The idea behind Lovevery started one day while Jessica Rolph was watching her youngest play with one of those plastic toys with the flashing lights. She didn’t get what it was actually doing for his development—it made her feel less connected to him even though she was right there beside him. She discovered two neuroscience development books, and they changed everything for her as a parent. The human brain has about 100 billion nerve cells when you’re born but have few links between them. Meaningful experiences—and exposure to how the world works—help build intricate, rich neural networks during the first few years of a child’s life. In 2016, Jess (after founding successful organic baby food brand Happy Baby) and Rod Morris (successful builder of companies and movements with environmental and social impact) teamed up to give families confidence that they’re giving their child a bright future. Jessica and Rod have known, trusted, and respected each other for many years. (Rod is married to Andrea, Jessica’s lifelong best friend.) Jess and Rod believe that children can play to learn, and become their best selves, with the right stage-based playthings and activities at the right time. They started Lovevery to be of service to families—because supporting your child’s brain development should be convenient, not complicated.
