About this product

Long island Brussels sprouts is a popular heirloom vegetable variety. These seeds can be started indoors and then placed outside in your late spring, summer, fall gardens. These vegetables look like cute little mini cabbages. They are typically cut, cleaned, and cooked as a side dish or main course—a favorite way to use these is grilled or roasted with some bacon. To harvest, start cutting from the bottom up. They should be firm and 1" around, cutting off the leaf below the sprouts. The best sweetest Brussel sprouts are harvested after going through a few touches of frost. To plant Brussels sprouts seeds, you need to: Start from seed or transplants. Seed is viable for 4 years. For a fall crop, start seed indoors 16 weeks before the first fall frost. Sow seeds about ½ inch deep in individual pots. Keep the mix moist but not wet. If direct-sowing seeds outdoors, sow seeds about 2 to 3 inches apart. Water well at time of sowing. Thin or transplant seedlings to 12 to 24 inches apart
