Dafne bags, purses and accessories are handcrafted with loved in love In a romantic country studio in Petrokerasa village, Northern Greece. Parts of our production are powered by renewable energy sources, thus lessening our carbon footprint. Products labeled “handprinted by Dafne” are screen printed by hand with inks approved by the Soil Association Certification LTD as Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), free from solvents and according to the Oeko-Tex standard 100 Class 1. The clasp closures are hand sewn onto each bag, purse or case stitch by stitch.

We are twin sisters who love to travel, especially to Europe . As little girls, we always spent our summers in Portugal visiting our grandparents and learning all about our Portuguese heritage . One summer, we visited the south of France and Portugal, we took in the sights, sounds and fashions. Inspired by our travels through the glamorous Cote D'Azur, we saw beautiful cork products all over Portugal and were immediately delighted and inspired! Our love of travel has influenced unique names for each individual bag. We fell in love with the softness, style, lightweight and sustainability of the cork handbags. We decided we had to bring this unique fabric back home to the U.S and share these beautiful handbags and accessories with friends, family and fashionistas alike. Today more than half of the worlds Cork raw material comes from Portugal. Cork is the outer bark of the Cork Oak tree. The bark can be harvested from the tree time and time again allowing new bark to grow in its place. After each harvest the Cork tree fully regenerates within 7 to 9 years after harvest, and the process extends the life of the tree by 200 years. The durable material is highly water repellent so it can be worn rain or shine! It is an organic, sustainable material,100% vegan and eco friendly.

The Shebobo team consists of over 400 artisans that work in collectives around the countryside of Madagascar, an island east of Africa. Our products are made from all natural fibers, including raffia, rush, sisal & banana palm. These fibers are renewable, sustainable & biodegradable. The raw materials are hand dyed and prepared for looming by splitting the palm leaves into thread like balls of yarn for weaving or crocheting, using the same traditional weaving techniques learned over 100 years ago. These fibers are naturally dyed and woven into hats, bags and other accessories. Every accessory is unique, and there can be slight irregularities in the shade and shape of the bags due to the nature of its craftsmanship. Because each piece is hand-dyed the natural fibers may fade with time. With over 80% of the population of Madagascar living below the poverty level, it is imperative to support artisans with fair trade & fair wage practices to sustain families, communities & artisan traditions.
