Head designer Olivia Wei founded Frieeah in 2021. She carefully assembled a team of like-minded designers to develop her vision for the brand. Having spent over a decade in the wasteful fast fashion industry, she decided that there had to be a better way. Her vision was to produce high quality apparel using sustainable materials and processes. Frieeah’s core values are producing fashionable collections using manufacturing processes and materials that are not only environmentally responsible, but also extend the life of the garments. We are proud to be a part of the slow fashion movement. Frieeah focuses on limited production runs and only manufactures more based on demand. This limits waste and keeps our products more exclusive. In 2014 fashion publicist Elissa Kravetz traveled to South India and encountered a remarkable family who source vintage saris. Having worked for 20+ plus years in the fashion industry of New York and Los Angeles, Elissa had never seen anything quite like these fabrics. Out of deep desire to help this local Indian family thrive and the wild excitement over the fabric a brand was born. The beautiful vintage silks are hand sorted to select just the right pattern to be turned into wearable art. Prayer and reverence for the process is always at the forefront of what we do. We work slowly. We work with intention. Every scrap of fabric is used, enabling us to be as waste free as possible. We employ local tailors and artisans in a small village rather than large mass factories. With intention to support the local community, we give jobs to widows and feed families and animals in need. We keep going, even when it feels tough. We learn, we grow, we question, we explore. All the while feeling the most excitement seeing the pieces come to life on YOU.

We are two women owning this small business and are curators of handmade textile collection, 7 Artisan Street! We are bonded first by the same cause of up-cycling and reducing waste, and second as sisters-in-law. While working in the corporate for 13 years, we got a chance to study waste and eco-friendly alternatives. It was during this time that we learnt about pre-consumer textile waste. It didn’t sit well with us and we knew we had to initiate change. It seemed almost natural for us to put our creative heads together and deal with the challenges of a start-up business. A year later, 7 Artisan Street was ready to raise awareness (even in small steps) about pre-consumer textile waste to reduce our carbon footprint. Socially Responsible: At 7Artisan Street, we have been actively involved in providing food, clothing, shoes, books and hygiene related items such as soaps etc. for a group of children that we have taken under our wing. It is our dream to see these children of the streets get, at a minimum, the basic necessities of life. To realize “our dream” for these children we have further decided to give a significant portion of our profits towards their needs and growth. Furious Fur is a Toronto-based faux fur brand launched in 2017 by mother-daughter duo Philippa and Samantha Madigan. They had closets full of vintage fur coats they adored but felt a more ethical option existed. With dozens of faux fur options on the market, none of them had the luxurious quality and glamourous design of their real furs. From there, they set out to recreate their beloved furs without any animal cruelty. Their designs are a combination of classic vintage styles with a modern edge. Vegan convinced of being environmentally friendly, I have a big flaw, that of adoring fashion. I like pretty things, beautiful materials and above all, bags. This is where the problem began to arise because no longer consuming meat and continuing to buy leather became incoherent. Both come from the same circuits and come out of the same sordid places as slaughterhouses. So, one day, I decided to make my dream come true: to create 100% vegan bags (without animal material) and when I officially launched MAGNETHIK in April 2016, I had been working on this beautiful project for already a year. In France, at the time vegan fashion and more generally this philosophy of life were still reserved for a small community and only foreign designers offered vegan bags. It is in this context that I created MAGNETHIK, which became the first committed fashion brand Made in France. In 2018, MAGNETHIK launched its first collection of vegan coats Made in France. We also offer organic cotton t-shirts, with quotes about Animals and a summer dress collection made with upcycled materials. On the leather goods side, we offer bags whose material is made of recycled corn waste. We make ALL our items in France MAGNETHIK is first and foremost a story of influence, of attraction between what is good and what is beautiful.
