More than 2000 years ago, the olive trees of Puente Genil were already famous throughout the Roman Empire for the extraordinary quality of their oil. Its freshness, its body, the power of its flavor and all its organoleptic characteristics made it the favorite of the emperors, who for centuries had it carried from Cordoba to Rome in oleary amphorae for its use and enjoyment. Thanks to the prolific trade routes of the old Empire, thousands of these vessels traveled from the village of Fuente Álamo, 5 kilometers from Puente Genil, to Hispalis (Seville). And from there, departing from the Guadalquivir estuary, to the port of Rome, where they were emptied and dumped at the foot of Mount Testaccio so that ships could undertake new expeditions loaded with other goods. Two thousand years later, our Emporium EVOO keeps intact the unique qualities that made it famous among the Caesars.
