She knew she needed an exfoliator & a moisturizer that was hydrating, nothing too abrasive, & something that would actually sink into the skin to nourish it. While being in esthetician school at night and studying ingredients, this is where Sarah decided to dive deep into creating a scrub and body butter that could help her skin feel and look the way she wanted and needed it too. Whipping natural ingredients together, to create a triple functioning exfoliating scrub & body butter, with aromatherapy, and an aesthetically pleasing, sensory product.

Hi I’m Jayda, founder of Ativo Skincare. At the age of 11, I found myself on a skin wellness journey. I was diagnosed with a hormonal condition that impacted my overall health and forced me to take a deeper look into the ingredients I was using on my skin. By, 13 I had developed a severe case of cystic acne that was exacerbated by my hormonal condition. Two dermatologists prescribed topical steroid creams, pills and suggested treatments and serums that left me with skin more sensitive and irritated than ever. After these failures, I felt compelled to create a product for myself that would soothe my sensitive and irritated skin. Today Ativo is a clean beauty brand that develops for every skin type but most importantly we are sensitive skin care experts. We are leading the way in Canada with education, skin care knowledge and using ingredients that are sensitive skin friendly.

A little info about myself & my brand: My passion for coffee started 25 years ago; as a small child I would spend many summers over in Naples with my family, each morning waking to the smell of freshly brewed espresso, courtesy of my grandmother. In my eyes, coffee = happiness and love. As a young adult I became fascinated with the world of natural skincare, plant-based products and started to intertwine my love of coffee into homemade blends. I aimed originally to just make them for myself as a DIY style project but shortly found myself handing them out to my friends and family! The feedback I received was amazing, people raved about the products and demanded I made more.. and so, The Coffee Scrub Co. was eventually born! I have a chronic illness called EDS/hypermobility that I manage predominantly through my lifestyle. This journey over the last few years has opened my eyes more to the diverse world of body positivity, self-love and how important self-care is for mental health. Hi! I'm Jane and I am based in beautiful Perthshire, Scotland. I began making soaps as a hobby, which then grew into learning about other body products and, over the last few years, this has grown into a small business making handmade, small batch products, from a range of Cold Process soaps, to Sugar Scrubs, Glycerine Soaps, Bath Salts and Lip balms to name a few. My family and friends have been, and continue to be willing testers for my products, giving useful and honest feedback - my children especially! I love that I can create useful, fun and luxurious products from home, and yet know that I am using good quality ingredients to cleanse, exfoliate and nourish the skin. All of my products are fully cosmetically assessed and compliant with current EU and UK Cosmetics regulations. All are fully labelled and compliant with UK Weights and Measures Act, and current labelling requirements. All and any reportable allergens are fully listed on product labels. I try where possible to reduce waste, and re-use and recycle what materials I can, from packaging to leftover product at the end of a batch. I try not to use plastic, however, sometimes price, hygiene and practicality take over, so I try to make sure that where I DO use it, it is as recycled or recyclable as possible. Always looking for more ecologically friendly ways to work!
