After a great 16 year career in the corporate world, I decided to make a 180-degree career change and follow my passion as an entrepreneur in the Fashion Industry. Taking the leap was both exciting and scary at the same time but I had always read and believed that you should live your life fully and take calculated risks when you can. Second, to relocating to Atlanta in 1992, this was definitely the biggest risk for me. The "why" to my brand goes much deeper than just selling apparel & accessories. As far as I can remember my weight has fluctuated. I’ve been a size 8 and a size 18. If we were cavemen, it wouldn’t matter because we wouldn’t need clothes but we’re not. The fact is society expects us to look a certain way and I did not feel that I was meeting those expectations. mostly because I couldn’t find anything that fit me right… It was discouraging going into stores that didn’t carry my size. I was tired of being directed to a plus size section. The "section" was usually really ugly, boxy and matronly, & if I did find what I thought was my size, it was not true to size. AKA marked a size 1X really a size Large. It’s all about having options for clothing that fit you well & give you self-confidence whether you are a size 2 or a size 22.
