Our brand is created by dog lovers, for dog lovers! Our Founder Ryan has a young Golden Doodle, the inspiration behind Poochiful. Welcoming Marlene into their family and home, Ryan couldn’t believe the high prices and confusing array of dog shampoos and dog perfume on the market. Ryan found that they were either very expensive or just cheap and ineffective. Like many new dog owners, Ryan soon realised that baths were a regular occurrence for inquisitive Marlene! Frustrated by what he had seen and tried (which was pretty much every brand), he began to analyse the market in more detail and thus, the beginning of the Poochiful brand was born.

Eric Bittman - CEO/President Born and raised in New York, Eric, along with his wife Dr. Sara Bittman, are the proud parents of two Boston Terriers, Maurice and Brittney. Maurice entered their lives in 2005. He was an amazing puppy, so happy and full of energy. He was the bond that brought an endless amount of joy into Eric and Sara's life. At about 6 months of age, Maurice developed skin allergies and an assortment of skin problems. It was painful to see him struggle with itchy dry skin and paws, scabs, and sores. The recommended allergy shampoo only left his skin drier and more irritated. After trying multiple commercial products with no results, Eric decided to take Maurice's quality of life into his own hands.

I’ve struggled to find a shampoo that didn’t dry out the coat of my own non-moult pups: Bertie the Tibetan Terrier and Stan the TT before him. I’m Nic by the way, and along with Bertie, I’m very lucky to live on the beautiful Kent coast. So naturally Bertie is a beach bum who spends many hours up to his ears in seaweed and sand every day. He’s always finding something stinky to roll in, little treasure. Thanks to the lockdown (there has to be a silver lining to Covid somewhere, right?) I finally got round to doing something about the research as I’m conscious to leave nothing but pawprints on the environment. Creating and testing the recipes followed and so Pup Suds was born! My daughter, Emily, has a background in animal care so she was also roped in to advise and help, so it’s a proper Mother/Daughter operation. I’m in charge of shampoos, oils and balms, and after a couple of knotting lessons, she is now in charge of the toys. Emily will also be writing some helpful blogs that we will add to the site in the near future. It’s a growing thing… Bertie naturally is chief tester and CEO! For over twenty years I bred and showed top winning, number one, fancy, schmancy french bulldogs. As you know, show dogs have to look and feel great to bring home the big ribbons and french bulldogs are notorious for having dry, crusty noses. There was nothing available for dog noses and the suggested options were full of petroleum by-products or didn't work. The wheels began to turn. One day at the turn of the century, back I dabbed some shea butter on my frenchie’s nose and the next day they looked much better. I was off and running! At first I gave my concoction away at dog shows until finally the light bulb flickered and I realized my Nose Butter could be a real product. Fast forward thru all the hard work, business building, recipe testing, mistakes and moves and here we are today. The Blissful Dog® Inc. is a multinational corporation helping dogs look and feel better all over the world. We've gone from a one frazzled woman show to providing jobs for 10 people here in northern Minnesota.
