SALT+UMBER is owned and operated by a a female designer and entreprenuer. After a decade in the mass-market footwear industry, seeing the destruction caused to mother nature by the shoe-manufacturing process and unethical business tactics, she decided to make a drastic change in her career. By thinking outside the box, focusing on creating unique styles, finding diversity in manufacturing, and promoting ethical and sustainable practices, she hopes to enlighten the consumer with the story behind each pair . Every piece from the SALT+UMBER collection is handcrafted, targeting the eco- conscious consumer who appreciates quality and accessibility. We use small-batch, sustainable manufacturing processes, and do not use large machinery to produce our shoes.

As a medium-sized family business, we handcraft our popular Weeger collection with great attention to detail. In doing so, we only use selected materials of the highest quality that comply with the guidelines of the German shoe industry. The MEXAS are 100% handmade with high quality, chemical-free vegetable tanned leather. As they are handmade shoes, our productions are limited and tend to sell out quickly. We donate part of the benefit to an NGO that supports women at risk of exclusion in the region where we produce.
