I’ve spoken with Grandad Jim and he's getting me a beehive for my birthday” Starting from this one hive, and with help from some wonderful local beekeepers and crafts-folk, Neve's Bees was born!

In 2018, Gustaf had a high performing job in the big city and like so many others he got burnt out. He wanted to do something more meaningful for both himself and nature which drew him into a fascination of bees and their incredible societies. He quit his job in the city, ordered 100 bee colonies and moved to the magical island Gotland on the east coast of Sweden. Linnea had just finished her master in finance and longed for the simple country life. Gustaf and Linnea met for the first time on Gotland and together they started the company Gustaf & Linnea where they developed lip balms in paper tubes with the finest bees wax. All their products are designed with some of the bees favorite flowers in beautiful colors and contrasts. Today, Gustaf and Linnea have 17 organic products and have proven that sustainable products don’t have to be either less or boring. With over 200 retailers in Sweden, they have just launched their lip balms in English. When Gustaf is asked why their products are so popular? He replies: “I think people really can tell we do something we really love, and that it shows in our products”. That, and that people seem to like a good love story. Born and raised in Kansas, Jamie Tabor, lives on the river with her artist/inventor husband, their daughter, son, four dogs and a cat. She is the chick behind Simone Chickenbone. Jamie decided if she were to make a lip balm it would have to be called ChickenPoopTM, inspired by her grandpa's sense of humor. If one was to complain of dry lips he'd say, "Put some chicken poop on your lips so you won't lick 'em". Produced in Castellon, Spain in 1880, Dermo-Suavina was developed by local pharmacist Vicente Calduch Solsona, who created a lip balm to treat dry and cracked lips of local orange pickers. As word of this miracle ointment quickly spread, the demand for Dermo-Suavina escalated across the whole country. While their packaging may have changed over the decades, the naturally derived ingredients and family heritage behind Dermo-Suavina has not. True to its homegrown nature, the brand is still produced in Castellon, Eastern Spain, by Calduch Laboratorios, which is ran by the same family five generations later, and fifth-generation pharmacists, next door to the family pharmacy office. Saving the Bees with Lip Balm? Bee Bella was founded on a passion to protect the honeybee. This is accomplished by beekeeping, donating to honeybee research, and educating others on the plight of the honeybee. With every purchase made from Bee Bella, part of the profits go toward honey bee research at the University of Minnesota’s Bee Lab.
