TAUKO Magazine is a pioneering independent print publication for home sewists and fashion and culture lovers, who have a big heart for the planet. Each issue features more than 10 sewing pattern designs created by celebrities and newcomers from the sewing community. Meet Dr. Lisa - Doll Creator & Founder I never thought I would leave the academic world as a professor to pursue the life of creating dolls. My journey into retail began with my children's books. They were so successful that Walmart asked me to create dolls in the likeness of the characters. Of course, I never saw that as a part of my life’s plan, so I declined the offer three times. It wasn’t until I viewed the updated doll study, that my mind was completely changed. During the study, one of the African American girl participants was asked why the white doll was prettier. As she touched her hand, she said, “I didn’t think the brown doll’s skin was pretty because it is nasty just like mine”. I knew then and there, that I had to change my life’s focus. What I once thought was success, no longer motivated me. There was no way I could sit comfortably behind my desk as our young girls believed the lie that their skin tone was not beautiful. So it became my mission to inspire our African American girls, and all children for that matter, to see themselves for who they are – Beautiful.

Microcosm Publishing is a fiercely independent publisher and distributor that empowers readers to make positive changes in their lives, their communities, and their world. Caroline Rowland is the founding editor of 91 Magazine, an independent biannual magazine which focusses on creative interiors and lifestyle while championing small independent businesses. 91 Magazine was launched by ex-photo editor Caroline in 2011 when she couldn't find the type of interiors magazine she longed for. One that was aspirational yet attainable, stylish yet affordable and that also told the stories of creative people, their work and their spaces. The magazine started life as a free online publication, but has grown into a coveted print magazine, most comfortable when nestled on the shelves of an independent store or in the hands of an avid reader. In 2023, Caroline moved into book publishing, releasing the first in the PLACES series of books - PLACES to Shop: independent lifestyle stores across the UK, with more to come in 2024.
