I started Handmade at Hazelwood as a place to share some of my design ideas. I have always been a creative person and I work with fabric to create a range of products. I like to make sure that I use high quality materials to make the best end product. I also work hard to work in a zero waste way and use even small pieces of fabric. I believe that it is important to have a positive environmental impact where possible so I also use recycled packaging Most of my items are made in small batches so there are only a limited number of any specific design. Due to the cut of the fabric this can also make each product almost unique giving each customer a bespoke purchase.

Jeanine and Julie are a mother / daughter team. They design bridal veils and accessories that complement any wedding dress style in their small shop in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. When it all began, they had a vision of designing timeless and affordable wedding veils for the modern bride. “We wanted to be able to offer affordability while not compromising the quality of our products. Mille Saisons is a British indie brand dedicated to silk accessories. At Mille Saisons we are passionate about silk and only use Grade A Mulberry silk to create our accessories. All our silk accessories are carefully made in small batches in Britain with handfinished details across our range which includes silk scrunchies, hair bows, headbands and eye masks in a beautiful range of colours. ​Mille Saisons - French for 1000 seasons because we design classic, long lasting accessories. Pronounced like the first part of mille feuille but without the cream! Sounds more like meel say-sohns :) ​Mille Saisons is pretty much just run by me, Jo. Sometimes when I say 'we' I mean me and Mille Saisons the brand as they are a bit different (real life Jo is a lot more sweary than brand Jo...!) I launched Mille Saisons in 2016 after studying Fashion at Kingston University to share my love of silk and the versatility of accessories. I also had a sleep disorder that made it difficult to have a 'normal' job; turns out not many places want you to have a 3 hour nap in the office?! So I created my own dream job designing and sewing silk accessories.

Conscious to minimise fabric waste, we make in small batches and where possible strive to source supplies locally or from other small British businesses. Hotline Hair Ties was created in 2017 when Megan (who owned a small boutique at the time) was looking for a solution for the perfect hair tie. She had been diagnosed with a rare brain disorder that caused debilitating migraines daily, and she hadn't been able to wear her hair in a simple ponytail for over a year because of the pain it caused. She knew a better solution had to be out there, and that's when she found out about coil hair ties. At that time, there were only the small, thin, black ones that would easily get caught in your hair and stretch out instantly. She knew she could make them better. Hotline Hair Ties was born! She used her background in the boutique world to find a manufacturer to create the hair ties to her exact specifications, and she launched the brand not expecting much but just happy she had a way to wear her hair up now without being in pain. Hotline exploded almost instantly and other boutiques were asking to carry the brand! Fast Forward to a few years later, and Hotline is now carried in over 1500 stores across North and South America. Her experience owning a boutique caused her to make sure the brand was perfectly geared for retailers. With a profit margin of 4x on average, she wanted to make sure it was a brand that her retailers could make money off of. She also implemented the Replacement Program that the Hotline team personally takes care of, so that shop owners don't have to deal with any issues themselves. Hotline takes care of it all!

Small handmade business based in South Wales that makes crochet and knitted items for skincare aswell as some items for well-being. Most items are made with 100% cotton all reusable items. All 100% cotton items can be washed in a washing machine making them environmentally friendly. All items are made to order and can be made in varieties of colours depending on your needs. Cookie & the Dude is a hand-made, textile forward brand that has been owned and operated by me, Helen Fawcett, in the California Bay Area since 2002. The name spawns from my two beloved cats I had in college, CookiePuss and Xanadu. Cookie was named after a song by my favorite hip hop crew, the Beastie boys, and Xanadu was named for Olivia Newton John and her glam-tastic role in the movie Xanadu. His name was quickly shortened to The Dude when he became large and lazy, similar to role of The Dude in the Big Lebowski. All in all, the name sums up my youth and growth as I moved through the formative years of my life. The brand, however, is very much inspired by mom, a woman who could go toe to toe with Martha Stewart any day of the week. She taught me how to be resourceful and unique all while adding color and whimsy to the world. After 20 years in the business I am still very much inspired by my mom, the joy I find in seeking out fabrics and findings to create my next collections, and the satisfaction of handmade creations for all to enjoy.
