Our founder Pieter Vandewiele also wanted to contribute to this sustainable evolution. Portugal being his second home, as his parents run a charming B&B Casa Mama Mia in the Algarve, he started visiting cork factories in Portugal and brainstormed during the first lockdown in Belgium. The result is Pierre Sports, a lifestyle brand that creates comfortable & sustainable yoga & sports equipment, using Portuguese cork and other natural or recycled materials such as wool, linen, recycled rubber,... Unfortunately, the game of football is a game of unknowns, and during my 3rd year in the NFL I suffered a season ending back injury and visited non-conventional physical therapists to rehabilitate. Here I learned how a simple foam roller could help to fix and maintain my back. But my relationship with the foam roller was love-hate. Foam rollers are bulky and annoying to carry around. I wanted something that I could take with me; whether it was to an away-game, the gym, or when I was traveling around the globe with my wife in the offseason. The idea for The Morph Fold-Flat Foam Roller was born.

My partner Malene and I created Complete Unity Yoga out of frustration with the yoga & meditation products on the market, a lack of eco-friendly products with the majority of them being made from toxic chemicals and oil-derived plastics. If yoga holds the potential to transform our inner body/mind landscape, a natural progression is to embrace the health of our Earth. This was the sentiment when we initiated the ecoYoga jute mat into the commercial marketplace in 2003. For those waiting or searching it was a relief to finally have an alternative to the synthetic mat. At the Edinburgh Yoga Centre {1994-2006} we witnessed the increasing turnover of yoga students and the pile up, year on year, of worn, smelly plastic mats destined for landfill. By 1997 we came to know some city yoga centres were disposing used studio mats every 3 months. Everything was awry and it was time to step off our mats and do the research. ecoYoga, as practice, began. In 2000 we discovered almost all Yoga mats on sale around the “developed” world were made of PVC {polyvinyl chloride: commonly known as vinyl}. Originally a useless by-product of the oil industry, PVC applications were explored and exploited from the 1930s up until the health and environmental crises of the 1970s. Plastic products now litter and literally choke our planet. Simply put: a plastic Yoga mat is a paradox. The ecoYoga jute mat, in concept & aesthetic, pioneered a shift in yoga mat consumerism and subsequently production: a shift that falters back & forth but hopefully will keep evolving. Even if unaware of basic yoga principles, suppliers are faced with the fact that the demand and integrity for more natural yoga mats grows stronger. Does it not ?

Throughout all stages and processes of the business, we ensure we're keeping a low carbon footprint, using biodegradable and recyclable packaging, working with partners with fair wages, and giving back to the planet and it's people. For every mat sold, we donate five pounds to Friends of the Earth, an environmental grassroots organisation helping to restore the planet to health, and campaigns to push legislative changes in order to do so. When it comes to our vegan mats, they're made entirely from natural tree rubber, using the latex that comes from the Para Rubber Tree. Natural rubber is an ecologically sustainable crop that actually contributes to the maintenance of the global carbon balance in the atmosphere. The oozy latex material extracted from the trees is strained, diluted with water, treated, and rolled into yoga mats using water-based dyes. Using sustainable farming, these non-Amazonian trees are only partially tapped by a small incision on the tree’s outer surface, which is used for a period of time, and then allowed to heal naturally. Unlike PVC yoga mats or rubber-top mats which contain nasty chemicals, our mats are natural, recyclable and biodegradable and feature a patterned vegan-suede top. They’re soft and supportive and come in a variety ot thicknesses and patterns.

Hi, I’m Ani, the founder of Amisity Ltd. Health and well-being have always been a big part of my life. Growing up on a working farm I quickly developed a passion for fresh air, nutrition and exercise and the benefits they bring. Now my aim is to share this passion with my own designed range of Eco friendly health, fitness and wellness products with all our lovely customers. We care about our planet, our customers and our manufacturers to get their fair pay.

I have a genuine love for animals and their welfare and so I created Tiger and Glory to offer sustainable clothing for women and children and because I wanted to use the brand platform to raise awareness and stand up for the rights of all animals. Animal rights and sustainable living are key to Tiger and Glory's identity as is supporting genuine nonprofit organisations at the grassroots level and organic farming, women in work and underprivileged children.
