My name is Alina Drufovka, or just “Abstract” on the trail. I am a Colombian-American illustrator and painter based in Philly where I grew up. Art has always been a passion of mine, but it wasn’t until COVID-19 that life slowed down enough for me to pursue my art more seriously. Forced inside due to the pandemic and briefly stuck abroad in Costa Rica, my trail design series was born! For the past 4 springs of my life I had always been gearing up and embarking on a new thru hike; the Appalachian Trail in 2015 & 2017, the Israel National Trail in 2018 and the Pacific Crest Trail in 2019. After over 5,000 miles of life spent on trail, I am now transform all that nostalgia and beauty from my treks into surreal portal paintings back to the “trailverse!" Mission: - Help people reconnect with their journeys in wilderness through art. - Commemorate life on trail and the culture of long distance backpacking. -Promote diversity in the outdoors while expanding current narratives of what and who is "outdoorsy". Medium: I mainly work with watercolor, gouache, acrylic, ink and illustrator markers.
