The Peaceful Porch is a candle company that was born out of tragedy and love. My husband, Jake, was diagnosed with testicular cancer in November 2015. We were a very young family with 5 children. We were both teaching & coaching in our local school system. Once we found out that Jake had cancer our community came to our rescue. They helped us with our children, fed us, did our laundry, and helped us pay our bills. It seems that whatever we needed, it was provided to help us get through this tragedy. While Jake was receiving chemo, I told him that once we were finished with this journey, I wanted to be able to give back to families the way that they had given to us. I was receiving a subscription box at the time from an essential oil company. One month the box had a jar, a wick, and a small bag of wax in it. Once I made the candle, I realized that I really enjoyed doing it. I bought a case of jars and a ten pound box of wax and really thought I was big. Lol! I made the candles and sold them to my friends on social media and at school. Fast forward 8 years later, we are blessed to have a beautiful storefront and manufacturing building for our candle company. We continue to give 25% of our profits back to families fighting cancer. We believe that we have grown because we have been obedient to God and give back. We are so thankful to be able to help others! Read their story
