Before establishing VeraCosy, Vivian McKechnie was a world traveler and skiing was one of her passion. After a skiing trip in the Alps, she had ignited a desire for comfortable slippers. After the ski trip, she returned to her homestay with cold and stiff feet. Although the ski homestay had fireplaces and other heat sources, the thin cabin walls still made it feel cold. As the old saying goes, "Health comes from the feet," Vivian believes that warm feet are essential, so she rushed to get a pair of comfortable and warm slippers. However, the cabin only provided disposable slippers with thin soles that didn't warm her feet, and she continued to feel cold and uncomfortable. Under the circumstances, Vivian was eager to make warm and comfortable slippers and began to research this industry. Vivian McKechnie believes that comfort is a fundamental need, so she wanted to make her slipper comfortable, just like stepping on a cloud. So, Vivian was inspired by the use of memory foam mattresses, and thought of using memory foam to make warm and comfortable slippers. In the early 2000's, we partnered with a Glasgow-based mattress company to source their memory foam toppers, which were then molded into shoe insoles. However, mattress comfort didn't equate to slipper comfort. So, over the years they calibrated the density and firmness ratings of the foams to create an optimal level of cushion for slippers.Read their story
