Growing up in the French Alps in a warm house of 5, I started hiking when I was 3, learned to ski a year later. My earliest memory is a sheep transhumance stopping right next to my house. At age 10, I received a pottery wheel toy for Christmas but it was so messy and my mother hardly ever let me use it. 15 years later, I left Europe to China and jumped back into ceramic. I found a studio with a teacher who couldn't speak a word of English. Quite a challenge! Since then, I haven’t stopped: learning the techniques in China for 8 years, followed by 4 years in San Francisco exploring materials and self-expression. I am now based in Valencia (Spain), city well known for its ceramic heritage where I keep learning from maestros. Marie Martin

Anke van der Endt graduated in 1996 from the Design Academy in the Dutch city of Eindhoven. Immediately after graduation she started working freelance designer for various companies. As Anke rather designs her own products she decided to set up her own label in 2007. As Pip is Anke's alter ego, she decided to give Pip a central role. Pip takes her fans on an incredible journey, always looking for new inspiration to design new collections - wherever she goes. These stories are the starting point, the soul of the brand. Also a nickname from her youth, it wasn't long before she found the perfect name for her brand. Pip always follows her heart and stays true to her intuition. She always raises the bar, uses the best materials and always aims for the best make. Her collections are always connected to one another, forming an intricate part of a wider universe. What's truly special is that Pip’s ethos conquers hearts and minds everywhere. Without knowing it, she hits a universal chord.

We founded MIJ because, to be honest, we were fed up with low-quality, boring tableware! In a world where we’re busier and more distracted than ever, we believe our interactions with everything we eat and drink should be an experience to savour. So, we set out to supply tableware that does just that. Our products are made for daily special occasions. We’re your Sunday best, every day. Elevating mealtimes and sparking conversation; we help make every moment matter. Our products make their way from Japan to our warehouse here in the UK, where we look after them until they go to their new homes. The majority of our products are sourced from small, family-run kilns in Gifu on the central island of Honshu, with the rest of our collections sourced from the length and breadth of Japan. Our products are made with love and care in Japan, but it’s with our cult following home and hospitality customers where their story lives on.
