About African Kingdom

We are an importer of healthy plant-based value-added food products from Africa. Our mission is to help create fairly-paid jobs amongst a fast-growing young African population by at the same time promoting the tasty healthy tropical plant products that they send to us here in the UK. The idea for this venture started when Jamie and Jenny MacAlister were living in Uganda in 2017. They met Nick and Cheryl, who run a fruit farm & social enterprise in Jinja at the source of the Nile, with a vision to plant a billion trees in villages across Sub-Saharan, to help create valuable income for families and to offset the environmental impact of tree depletion. They needed export markets to create enough demand. At the same time, their eyes were open to some of the amazing health properties of so many plants and associated fruits that grow so readily in equatorial Africa. Then Jamie met Don Larson, through the ICCC online network. Don, formerly a senior manager at Hershey Chocolate in the USA had ten years earlier set up Sunshine Nut Co in Mozambique to grow, process, pack and export high quality cashew nuts, with a vision to create jobs and support communities in Africa. We decided to work together, and The African Kingdom Trade & Investment Company (TAKTIC Ltd) was set up to import Don's packed cashews nuts - super fresh and crunchy because they are processed and packed close to the farms, unlike most other cashews from Africa.
