Our Story It was Robert Tisserand’s mother who first introduced him to aromatherapy, leading to a passion for the subject that continues to this day. At the age of 17, on a train taking him back to boarding school, Robert decided that he wanted to share the benefits of essential oils with others, to improve their health and happiness. His vision was to bring essential oil based products into everyone’s home. After years of studying and practising as an aromatherapist, Robert started the Aromatic Oil Company in 1974, from his bedroom in a South London house. During the next 11 years, despite financial struggle and discouragement from others, Robert hand-bottled the oils, hand-wrote the label for each bottle and packed the parcels that he would dispatch to customers every Saturday morning from his local post office. Having taken eight years to write it, Robert’s first book – The Art of Aromatherapy – was published in 1977. In his book, Robert talks about nature, life force, the planets and the elements. It was in 1984 that a new company, Aromatherapy Products Ltd, was formed, allowing Robert to act as essential oil and formulations consultant, fully utilising his years of experience. We're proud to be the UK's 1st independently certified palm oil-free company. We founded Bloomtown in 2016 after spending two years in Indonesia and witnessing first-hand the devastation caused by palm oil cultivation: the loss of virgin forest that is home to endangered orangutans, tigers and so much of the world's biodiversity. We were horrified to learn that so many of our store-bought products had palm oil lurking in their ingredients labels, sometimes in the form of SLSs, parabens, cetearyl alcohols, polysorbates and hundreds of other guises. We strictly follow the practices outlined in the Good Manufacturing Guide and all our formulations have cosmetic product safety approval. All our products are handmade in small batches in our workshop in Wokingham, Berkshire, UK. Together we run Zephorium, creating, designing and teaching every day from our workshop. It truly is a small, family run business that puts love, joy, integrity and positive intention into everything we do. Cosy Aromas was created by husband and wife Paul and Tamar Mayne to bring the highest quality home fragrances to homes all over the world. We've come a long way since we started in our kitchen in March 2018. We started just making a few small wax melts at home and quickly realised that due to the care and attention we were putting into them the quality was excellent, much better than we've ever purchased from a shop. Paul had worked in digital marketing for 16 years and has a huge amount of ecommerce experience, so we set up our first website and started selling our products originally as a monthly subscription box. Our customers soon wanted to purchase products on their own separate to the subscription, so we set up a shop and haven't looked back. Just before our 1st Birthday in March 2019 we ticked over to 10,000 orders which completely surpassed our expectations. As of April 2021 we have delivered over 100,000 orders and have a growing base of loyal repeat customers who love our products, community and customer service. We are now starting to sell our products to shops throughout the country and have plans to launch overseas.
