All pieces are individually handcrafted, providing local BIPOC and Veterans with work opportunities. We focus on paying livable wages and provide an art therapy environment. In additional to a local workforce we also have paid internships for young people to learn the craft of jewelry making. While Monsieur Pamplemousse is making an impact locally, the inspiration for MP comes from far and wide. Monsieur Pamplemousse was created in 2002 by Alex Agudo. Alex was born in Chicago, but lived most of his childhood in the city of El Empalme in Ecuador. He returned to Chicago at the age of 12, but continued to travel throughout South America. His fascination with other cultures and global influences also inspires his designs. Alex incorporates techniques and elements from countries like Brazil, Ghana, and India, providing the wearer with a multi-cultural influenced piece. Beyond jewelry design, Alex is a dancer, florist, photographer, art teacher, historian and polyglot. He is currently one of the owners of L&A Healing Studio, a new concept boutique which he opened with his partner in 2015, located in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago.
