My name is Josh Fitzmaurice and I am the founder of SLYK and this is my story! Your biggest struggles in life can open up the biggest opportunities. Beginning in January 2017, I became chronically ill after my nervous system was damaged by a prescribed medication. I was too ill to continue my job as an accountant and had to move back home with my mom to begin my road to recovery. My life became a constant battle to keep a positive mindset and never give up hope that I would get better. I knew I had to find a healthy distraction to keep my mind busy and that’s when I had the idea to try to learn fashion design, something I had always been interested in. After many YouTube tutorials, I created my first tech packs and brought some of my designs to life. After showing some family and friends, the feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive. This was the turning point where I decided to take my traumatic experience and transform it into something amazing. Having a creative outlet and a sense of purpose brought my recovery to a whole new level and SLYK began to take shape. A collection of prototypes later I decided it was time to take my line public in my local community of Cape Cod and the response could not have been better. Embedded in all my designs are messages of hope and inspiration, signifying a piece of my story in every design.

Our trend-setting pieces are hand made with high quality frames and lens, and provide Cat 3 UV400 protection. We also have a polarized collection featuring iconic and timeless frames while being one of the most affordable quality eyewear on the market. As eyewear enthusiasts, we were frustrated by the availability of fashionable sunglasses that don’t break the bank. SLOANE was born from a desire to provide a range of sunnies that keep up with the current trends but still maintain quality and durability, at a price point that is accessible for everyone. We believe that a collection of quality eyewear is a wardrobe essential, and we make it our mission to make that affordable.

We are East Coast souls. We also make a damn good pair of sunglasses. We aim to stay true to those roots in the shades we create, infusing a bit of grit, character & inclusivity to everything we do. We have been using recycled materials since before it was cool! -Our process begins by sorting single use plastic bottles and food containers. -The recycled plastics are shredded, cleaned and refined into workable pellets. -The pellets are then used during our molding process to produce new frames. -The end result - a 100% recycled frame that helps reduce the amount of single use plastics from ending up in our environment. 70% of our frame styles are made this way now. The Sunglass Museum is an online treasure trove of curated eyewear from yesteryear. Exhibiting a wide range of styles and frame shapes, our collections span the decades, with some pieces dating back as far as the 70s. What was once lost to the warehouse of time has been unearthed — and once again made available to you. All our vintage frames are new old stock, more widely known as deadstock (discontinued merchandise that is still in new condition and has never been worn), making them uniquely authentic.
