The Radical Tea Towel Company is a family-owned online shop supplying novelty tea towels and political gifts throughout the world. We were founded by the Pearce family in South Wales, who've demonstrated that it's perfectly possible to work with members of your family and still get on! The idea came about when Beatrice was looking for a suitable politically-themed birthday present for her late mother's partner, David. She decided that some kind of left-wing tea towel would be ideal (given David's radical inclinations), but somehow the internet had not yet produced such an obviously useful product. After a discussion over dinner with husband Tim and son Luke, the family decided they'd strike out and create a bunch of radical tea towels, with the aim of encouraging left and liberal-minded people to proudly display their political and social beliefs. My company began back in 2015 as a wood crafting hobby in Vancouver, Canada. Initially it was a part-time hobby for a Texan girl waiting on her Canadian work visa. It married my love for working with wood and my need for a creative outlet - a space where I could share my love of design and of all things nerdy! Next, it transformed into "Mama's side hustle" to bring in a little extra cash for us after moving back to Texas, with my husband, to start our own family. Now, in 2022 (three kids later), I have officially formed my own LLC and run North to South Designs as a full-time job and constantly growing small business! I employ four fabulous ladies to help me keep up with expanding my reach and serving you and your small businesses. It is hard work but, a dream come true. Founder Amy Hall is an art historian and ocean lover who was able to combine both her passions in Goldilocks Goods. After volunteering with a shark conservation program in the South Pacific she was devastated by the ocean plastics problem globally. This compelled Amy to start her journey towards zero waste which, in turn, inspired her to start her ever growing business. Each reusable beeswax wrap is made individually by hand in small batches. From the washing and cutting the cotton, to waxing piece by piece, to folding and packaging, we do it all ourselves. Each wrap is held to the highest of quality standards and infused with an extra dose of love. The average person uses over 2000 square feet of plastic every year, and while our main goal is to help reduce this to zero, one of the added bonuses of our wraps is that they will actually keep your food fresh for longer! The Market Bags was established with a single vision in mind; eliminating single-use plastic bags. What started out as a trip to a local farmers market was the beginning of that journey. It was the during this weekly trip in the summer of 2018, when reusable bags were first starting to make an appearance, that we realized that so many of them were still being manufactured overseas and of unsustainable fabrics, such as polyester mesh. Although reusable, these fabrics are still technically plastic and will end up in a landfill one day. We wanted to do better! Our Canadian-made reusable bags represent a small step towards a better tomorrow with a positive impact on our environment. Using upcycled or sustainable and organic materials, we've created a line of truly eco-friendly reusable bags. We want to ensure future generations have a healthy and beautiful planet to experience, and because of this we've made it our mission to replace those pesky tear-off-the-roll plastic bags in grocery stores with reusable bags. Our passion for a better world put the “re” in reCAP – Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle. Inspired by a personal goal of zero-waste, Karen was passionate about bringing reCAP to life – in the hopes the cap would make Mason jars more useful and have a positive environmental impact.
