Route 66 was founded in 2016 in New Jersey. In 2018, the YM Seaweed brand was launched using premium Korean seaweed, which is known for its great taste and quality. In the US, the majority of seaweed is imported from China. There are many risks and costs associated with importing from overseas such as long lead times, vulnerable shipping cost, tariffs, and most importantly quality control and service. As we worked closely with chefs, we realized that we had to roast seaweed here in the United States to provide the best quality and service. And so, we built a factory from the ground up in 2020, allowing us to cater to our chefs’ specific needs. We are the first seaweed factory on the East Coast. Read their story
