Jessica Melis, so to speak; Jes, is a passionate ceramist with a deep-rooted love for old crafts. Her creative journey began in her youth, where she learned how to embroider and sew from her mother. Her maternal grandfather, a carpenter, inspired her with his woodworking skills, and her maternal grandmother mainly painted watercolors, reinforcing her fascination with art. The creativity also ran in the paternal family, where her grandparents and aunt practiced various crafts and art forms. The art school brought Jessica to her true passion: ceramics. Her love for vintage and handmade objects led to a unique approach to ceramics, where she prints vintage lace doilies in clay. With more than 200 dresses in her collection, she creates unique jewelry, tableware and home accessories. Jessica values maintaining the imperfections of the lace, resulting in handmade pieces with character and attention to detail. She avoids mass production and strives for uniqueness in each product. Although she now uses a few moulds, her focus remains on the manual process to create unique, personal items. Her specialization in personalized ceramic house number and name plates flourished after creating for her own home. Demand grew and now, in addition to her regular collection, she mainly focuses on customization.
