Being part of the hair styling world, we have had the opportunity to test hundreds of hair products, and hear and comprehend the needs and wants of our clients. It wasn’t hard to understand that what most people look for in a good hair product is natural and safe ingredients, quality, efficiency, and reasonable prices – all at the same time. However, finding a product that has it all is not easy. That’s when we decided to create our very own hair products! Our founder, Illup Gravengaard, grew up with the Native American Yellow Lotus flower growing wild in his backyard. The flower called to him and eventually started coming into his dreams reminding him of her ancient therapeutic qualities & uses. Illup, being a lineage trained herbalist, realized just like the Blue Lotus for the Ancient Egyptians and the Pink Lotus for the Yogis of India, was greatly beneficial for people aromatically and medicinally boosting a wealth of health physically, mentally, and spiritually. Now a practicing herbalist of over 15 years, Illup & the crew at Metamorflotus, extract lotus (& waterlily) from around the world having supported thousands to overcome anxiety, fear, depression, and other mental challenges and feelings of disconnect. Illup listens to Mother Earth to understand what her most incredible remedy for humanity is each season and it is clear, it is the time of the Lotus! Illup, not only harvests and extracts lotus traveling the world, but also leads Lotus Ceremonies everywhere he travels to create a safe sacred container for all to feel a sense of tranquility and calm in their nervous system as well as a deep feeling of connection with each other and all thriving life. We are a small, woman-owned business based in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. A few years back, our eldest son, who was already running a business around metaphysics— rocks, gems, crystals, incense, tools of ritual and self-empowerment— saw a future for Palo Santo. Native American Sage has been used for centuries by indigenous people for ceremonies here in North America, so why not balance it with its South American counterpart—Palo Santo. Sage and Palo. The feminine and the masculine. The timing seemed to be perfect. His brother, our second son, was living in Peru at the time and planning to return stateside. He was arranging for some cargo to be shipped back here anyway and “Would you mind picking up a sack of Palo Santo for me to sell in my store?” What came next was tricky. In Peru, the practice of harvesting Palo Santo is regulated by the Peruvian government. Turned out to be not quite as simple as throwing a bag of Palo on board a ship. Frankly, the story has a lot of interim chapters that are more fitted for a full novel, so to make a long story short… after a plethora of documents and tours through areas of Peru not on the original agenda, there was finally success in landing a sack of Palo! … And 49 more! Yep! An imperial ton of Palo Santo now stacked in our garage with nothing more than a notion that “I think I can sell this in my store,” behind it.

It All Started with Laundry. I’m Kathy, and I learned about natural home and wellness products when I realized the laundry was making my family sick. When I learned the harsh truth behind so-called fresh scented laundry detergent and dryer sheets, I decided things had to change. But I didn’t stop at laundry. And I didn’t stop at my family.
