Carrie Alderfer has been a “color addict” for as long as she can remember. She graduated with honors from the University of Alabama in with a B.A. in Art. Following college, Alderfer was employed as a graphic designer, web programmer and art director. She started her own business, ChromAddict Studio, in 2002 and currently has a studio in Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment. Inspired by nature, her love of fabric patterns and quilts, and both art nouveau and mid-century modern design, Alderfer loves to juxtapose realistic details with stylized or abstract spaces. Her work is infused with bold color, expressive marks, subtle patterns, and precious details that capture the spirit and essence of things she loves. Alderfer's work has been included in publications such as "Colored Pencil Magazine", "Ann Kulberg's Color! Magazine", “Art Galleries and Artists of the South”, Strokes of Genius 6 and 10, and Colored Pencil Dogs & Cats. Exhibits include regional art festivals and juried shows, as well as Colored Pencil Society of America’s International Exhibition in 2015, 2017, and 2019. She earned her CPSA designation in 2019. She resides in Madison, AL, with her husband, two boys, and four cats.
