The Untrend Shop line of embroidered earrings are made by the owner, Aly on her 1933 vintage Singer chainstitch embroidery machine. The machine is all manually controlled by a foot pedal and a hand crank. Each earring is made with care and intention, stitch by stitch. The Untrend Shop started out of a small studio in Brooklyn, NY making one of a kind upcycled garments from recycled textile scraps and thrifted denim and has expanded into also offering vintage style chainstitch embroidery. Aly worked in fashion in Manhattan and saw first hand how much waste the industry creates. She was inspired to do things differently. The intention of The Untrend Shop is to reuse what already exists as much as possible and to make clothing and accessories people will care for like a dear friend. The word Untrend is used as an opposition to the world of fast fashion and quick trends, rather encouraging a focus on personal style and conscious consumerism.
