In this age of fast fashion, faster lives and disposable everything, Hataguchi Collective quietly soldiers on in the opposite direction, patiently taking the old and turning it into something new. I was traveling in India when I discovered a band of paper artisans and print-makers, using traditional methods passed down through generations. Inspired by how they gave old cotton garments a second birth as handmade paper, I came up with the idea of Hataguchi Collective—proprietor of traditional paper products with a modern aesthetic. I decided to name my paper brand after my grandmother’s family name, Hataguchi, the latter being the last member of the Hataguchi family line. Our paper products are made of up-cycled cotton waste from the garment manufacturers. Turning scraps into fine paper with a purpose. Recycled cotton paper is as durable as it is beautiful and most importantly, it is beneficial for our planet. I want people to rediscover the joy of finding a personal letter in their mailbox. I think the best gift you could give to someone is the release of handwritten words on paper. I hope that Hataguchi Collective products inspire people to share their feelings in that tangible way. A lifelong artist, Anne Neilson began painting with oils in 2003 and quickly became nationally renown for her ethereal Angel Series. A favorite among individuals and private art collectors, Neilson's paintings are inspiring reflections of her faith and recognized for their flair and use of color. In response to the demand for more access to her acclaimed Angel paintings, Neilson published two coffee table books and launched Anne Neilson Home in 2012. Her latest books, published through Thomas Nelson, include Anne Neilson’s Angels: Devotions and Art to Encourage, Refresh and Inspire, Entertaining Angels: True Stories and Art Inspired by Divine Encounters and the Brushstrokes Of Life: Discovering How God Brings Beauty and Purpose to Your Story. As a wife, mother of four, artist, author, and philanthropist, Anne paints with passion and purpose, always giving back to others by contributing to charitable organizations in her community and beyond.

Twigs was founded in 2017 by two best friends, Eric and David, who have a passion for graphic design and sustainability. We started the business in Eric’s basement and our initial goal was to create greeting cards were kind to the planet. Our aim was to make a positive impact in industry that has a reputation for damaging the environment. So, we sourced the best quality recycled paper, an eco-friendly printer, biodegradable packaging, and with a little graphic design – Twigs was born! Fast forward to 2023 and we’re lucky enough to work with the most talented group of independent artists from around the world, each showcasing their uniquely beautiful style right here in our shop. We’re proud to have them contribute to our ever-expanding collection of greeting cards and could never have grown this quickly without them! Born in Memphis, TN, Karen moved to Tokyo, Japan, traveled the world, and lived in Omaha, NE, Cincinnati, OH, and Houston, TX all by the age of seventeen. These early adventures fostered her love of the arts and a desire to share this joy with friends, family and others. Karen attended her dream college, the Rhode Island School of Design, majored in apparel design and moved to New York City to live the artist's life working for brands like KIKIT and J. Crew. It was the 80s in NYC, a time of inspiration and innovation. When she set roots in the suburbs to start a family, Karen translated her colorful design aesthetic to everything she did, from faux finishes and murals to planting gardens and entertaining friends. In 1999, Karen began designing custom invitations for non-profit organizations out of her guesthouse. Those first original drawings and hand-finished cards were the spark and start of Karen Adams Designs. Today, Karen, husband Ed, son Avery, and daughter Wallis, along with their amazing team, create a thriving collection of made-to-order paper goods, desktop items and gifts in their Memphis studio. All products are printed locally and hand-finished in their headquarters, a former bakery located in the Edge District, an up-and-coming Memphis Arts Community. I started Petits Mots in 2011 alongside my architectural practice, and the company has continued to grow bit by bit every year since. I have always loved to draw and watercolor, and this was a natural extension of what I was already doing. Clients would ask for the sketches of their homes, and I began giving them as gifts or producing notecards of their homes, gardens, etc. I am inspired by objects around me, from my youth, and from my collection of vintage tools and toys and utensils. I am a passionate cook and cyclist and love drawing some of what goes into the soup, or what sits in the fruit bowl on the table. For our housewares, the hand drawn image is scanned on the computer and then silkscreened by hand onto linen or organic cotton fabric, then sewn here in Montreal. Our notecards and prints follow much of the same procedure, though are printed locally on recycled papers.

Owning my own boutique in Vernon, BC Canada, I was very particular about curating my store. Only carrying my favourite brands I noticed something missing, something practical yet still fashionable for women. I have always loved the Canadian staples for comfy, cozy clothing, flannel, polar fleece and basic cotton jogging suits and sweats. But also light weight breezy and flowy comfortable pieces for Spring/Summer. My dream is to have my line carried in small boutiques like my own all over Canada. Starting as a small studio in Amy’s garage, the business expanded into a beautiful retail storefront in historic Perrysburg, Ohio. At Alice-Louise Press, we take pride in our brand and our products, which are all designed and meticulously letterpressed at our Perrysburg studio on our three Heidelberg Windmills, called the “Iron Ladies.” Customers who visit our Perrysburg location can view these antique presses in action, as we create our unique array of products.
