Based in Houston, our family-owned studios were built on a love for playing in the mud and turning it into something beautiful. We’re on a mission to create welcoming spaces where everyone feels free to explore their creativity, relax, and make something truly unique. It all started in May 2021 in a small, un-airconditioned warehouse in Cypress, Texas. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to bring our vision to life. From the start, we wanted to offer something different from traditional pottery painting—something more hands-on, relaxed, and adult-friendly. That’s when we began making our own colored clay, allowing guests to create vibrant, marbled pottery without underglazing. Using a method called slam wedging, makers blend and smash together different clays, resulting in stunning, one-of-a-kind designs. This technique inspired our signature handbuilding workshop: Sip and Smash—a BYOB, creative night out that sparked the name Smashed Studio. To make throwing pottery more beginner-friendly, we designed our own rib tools, that help shape and smooth pottery with ease, even on your first try. And now, we’re expanding into wholesale, offering our colored clay and tools to help other studios grow and stand out. Whether you're just starting or looking to add something new, we’re here to support your creative journey.
