The first thing that Lisa and Michael did after officially taking over the Yoga Mat Tie in 2021 is establish their partnerships with a veteran-owned postal services shop, minority-owned graphic artist, a minority-owned specialty printer, and a women-minority-owned social media manager, who are all local in the Los Angeles area. The idea for Yoga Design Lab started on vacation in Bali. Looking around, our founder, Chad Turner, saw was a sea of unoriginal, mass-produced, solid colored yoga mats. His thinking; there must be a way of creating a highly functional product that was also aesthetically beautiful. The inspiration grew and our journey began. Blending fashion-forward design elements with innovative functionality and bio-renewable consciousness is key to the Yoga Design Lab approach. From our hot yoga mats comprised of biodegradable natural tree rubber and 15 recycled plastic bottles each to the water-based inks used in our printed designs, we believe everyone can start by choosing better products for the earth.

Hey you, reading this! My name is Yara, and I started Scoria in 2017. Scoria started when I wanted to reconnect with lost creativity after graduating from Fashion School in Toronto. Today, I am a 25 year old designer, artist and a registered yoga teacher. Before starting Scoria, I became more aware of the indirect society pressure to succeed and fit in a world of physical values and rules. I realized that "growing up" can strip us from who we really are and can make us self-conscious to be our real selves, play, express or believe in art again as we did when we were children. With Scoria, I wanted to inspire grown ups with children-inspired art on cork yoga mats to reconnect with their inner-child through creativity and movement. Launching Scoria on Kickstarter and successfully raising over $15,000 to fund the project, I created artistic cork mats from children-inspired stories during the time I was an art teacher. The mats served a purpose of encouraging movement, bodily and mind curiosity, while also staying kind to the planet.

Valka Yoga was founded in Australia with the aim of making high quality and ethically sourced yoga mats accessible to everyone. We have been creating props & yoga mats for the past 5 years from natural materials, and promoting yoga, health and sustainability along the way.

Welcome to Yoloha Yoga, creators of the world's first cork yoga mat. In 2012, our founder and owner Chris Willey was building surfboards using non-traditional materials that were eco-friendly, durable and high performing. His pursuit for a better, greener material ended with the discovery of cork. Cork outlasted and outperformed any other natural material and, best of all, it provided a non-slip surface even when wet, eliminating the need for wax for traction. Practicing yoga at a local studio and finding himself slipping on traditional foam yoga mats a light bulb when off in his head. Working out of his garage with the help of his parents, he set out to create the first prototype cork yoga mats, hand-laminating the cork and recycled rubber layers together, working well into the night. The minute we introduced the mats to the local studio, he knew he was onto something special. Teachers would grab the cork mats before any students could get their hands on them.
