About studioTica

Born in the lush landscapes and vibrant culture of Costa Rica, my journey began in the heart of a tropical paradise. My adventure led me to the United States—first as an exchange student, and later as a wife, where I ventured into the captivating world of glass and glassmaking. Drawn by the allure of transforming molten glass into stunning creations, studioTica emerged as a tribute to my Costa Rican heritage. Each time I peer into the kiln, the glowing, lava-like glass transports me back to my childhood, where the heat and power of active volcanoes were a constant presence. Handmade glass possesses a unique charm that captivates the soul. Each piece, born from the intense heat of the kiln, carries with it a story of creation and transformation. The subtle variations in color and form, the intricate patterns formed by hand, and the delicate balance of strength and fragility all contribute to the unparalleled beauty of these artisanal creations. Handmade glass is not just a material; it is an expression of the artist’s passion, a testament to the power of human creativity, and a celebration of the art of glassmaking. With studioTica, I create unique, one-of-a-kind functional masterpieces that celebrate the beauty and strength found in intense heat combined with delicate craftsmanship. Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope you find as much joy in these handcrafted pieces as I do in creating them. Warmly, Fanny

Ornaments 4 Orphans

My wife, Jamie, and I started Ornaments 4 Orphans out of our love for Christmas and our passion for helping others. We both love Christmas and Christmas ornaments! Our wedding was one week before Christmas. On our honeymoon, we drove out to the Michigan countryside, cut down our first Christmas tree and decorated it with our combined eclectic ornament collections. We love decorating our Christmas tree with memories old and new! We took our first trip to Uganda as college students. The poverty and lack of development struck us, as did the people who just wanted a chance to work and provide for their families. We came back to the states and started a non-profit to help a small orphanage and primary school. Out of that, Ornaments 4 Orphans® was started. Ornaments 4 Orphans® is a fair trade, social business. We sell handmade products purchased fairly in developing countries. All proceeds are invested back into the communities we work to provide jobs, prevent orphans and keep vulnerable children with their families. Through fair trade practices, Ornaments 4 Orphans works to fight poverty and encourage sustainability in Africa (Kenya and Uganda), South America (Peru) and Asia (Nepal). When you (and your customers) purchase from Ornaments 4 Orphans®, you can be certain that you are making a real difference in someone’s life across the world. At Ornaments 4 Orphans®, our hope is to make our world a brighter place, one fair trade ornament at a time. Scott Laslo, Founder and CEO
