Sweet Mint Handmade Goods was started in January of 2016 when I decided I needed something creative to do on nights & weekends when I wasn't working at my corporate job. Just one year after opening this my shop, I was able to leave my full time job to follow my dream of growing this small business. Now, I wake up every morning with a smile on my face because I get to make fun creations for all of you every single day.

At The Fifth Design, we offer high-quality, sustainable, handmade products that people can cherish forever. Our cheese boards, serving trays, coasters and other products are designed and created with a focus on sharing and congregating with loved ones. These products can also serve as unique and personalized gifts, empowering individuals, couples, and families to commemorate important life events and express their love through thoughtful giving. It is our team’s hope that the products we create will find happy use as centerpieces for friends and loved ones who gather to share good food, good wine, and good stories. We are also proud to offer truly one-of-a-kind products. Too often the housewares marketplace is filled with items that are useful — but uninspired in their design and aesthetics. We take a different approach to creating everyday kitchen and home products. Our artisanal process is rooted in taking art off of walls and giving it an active role in the lives of everyday people. For centuries, art has been revered and allocated to static environments like museums. We find this idea outdated (and frankly boring!). We pour artistic passion and inspiration into creating each of the products you’ll find in our selection, making art something that our customers can bring into their homes and share with others. That’s the ethos behind everything designed by Emilie O’Connor. A Melbourne-based designer, Emilie takes her inspiration from the unique Australian flora and fauna, and every design has a story, from the dreamtime Dugong mermaids to the seagrass and the Green Turtle. “So many things are made without thinking what impact they have on the environment. I want to build an eco-friendly homewares and lifestyle brand that gives back to the environment enabling us to live more consciously and with a lighter footprint. I believe designers have a responsibility to use sustainable materials and manufacture products that minimise our impact on the environment. What we buy matters and how we use it makes a difference to the environment and our lives." Emilie O'Connor All products are designed to spark conversation and action. 5% of profits go to conservation projects, through your purchases we have recently donated to Surfers Against Sewage helping them to campaign for against untreated sewage entering the sea and run one Million Mile beach clean up. Her design career started in England. With a background in theatre design from Central St Martins she worked as a set designer and art director for TV commercials, theatres and a circus. At the same time, Emilie launched 009textiles, a London-based textile studio in conjunction with Gopali. Emilie’s commissions include work for Liberty London, Rupert Sanderson, Soho House, Tate Modern and Bafa’s Club.

A city girl who loved spending weekends on the family farm. Gifted with my dad’s sense of humour and mom’s love of pretty things. I’ve always loved creating. Originally I went to the Alberta University of the Arts to become a painter. Intimidated by galleries I quickly chickened out! However, I was intrigued by graphic design because it was creative, yet practical. This led me to a Bachelor of Design from the Alberta University of the Arts. As a graphic designer in Calgary, Alberta for 10 years, I had the privilege of working on some amazing corporate projects. But there was something missing working for someone else. After our first child we moved “home” closer to family. With little babes came sleepless nights. On one of those nights, uploaded my greeting card designs I had made for friends and family on Etsy.
