Frederica Trading was created in 2016 by Fred McKinnon and his big ole' family on St. Simons Island, GA. Fred spent more than a dozen years as an e-commerce entrepreneur selling products online and decided one day that he'd much rather build a brand featuring his own products. There was lots of brainstorming and creative ideas about what products we'd like to sell. With a family of 6, we spent a lot of time in the kitchen so the kitchen won! The Frederica Trading name comes from our home on St. Simons Island, GA with beautiful live oaks along Frederica Road and Fort Frederica. We decided to launch with a premium line of bamboo kitchen accessories. Our bamboo pizza peel paddle became our flagship product and we're scooping pizzas in and out of our oven on a regular basis. Teaching our kids about business has been such a fun part of the journey. Our 2nd born, Will, chose the next product, which was our signature bamboo magnetic knife strip. After experiencing success online we realized our products were perfect for retail. Restaurants started bulk ordering our products to use as serving and appetizer trays. Realtors love our cutting board gift sets for their housewarming gifts. Gift shops have found a great kitchen accessory gift that is functional but looks way too pretty to store in a drawer.
