The genesis of Tweezy came from my own own experience – I’m of South Asian descent with naturally thick and dark hair. While this is a blessing when it comes to a girls’ crowning glory, its less glamorous side effect means you produce visible facial hair. Having sensitive skin, aggressive bleach and wax treatments were never a viable option, but threading was. I spoke to my friends and discovered they were going to crowded shopping centres for threading treatments. It was then that I noticed a gap in the market and immediately invested my savings into research for the right device. A hair-removal device that can be used from the comfort of one’s home. Enter Tweezy. The Tweezy Epilator proved to be revolutionary and was the answer to countless women’s prayers: an intuitive, cost effective, hygienic and sustainable DIY hair-removal tool. It quickly flourished into a multi-award winning brand, achieving ‘Special innovation Award’ and ‘Best Hair Removal Product’ at the Pure Beauty Awards. Upon winning the prestigious Precious award of ‘Best SME Business’ - sponsored by the Institute of Directors, I knew this segment of the market was appreciated. I chose to continue expanding my brand to provide beauty tools and accessories that not only break barriers, but are effective, unique and must-haves for any beauty bag.
