Stacey Karnacki created Under The Pines Goods out of a desire to combine her passion for macrame and rattan with her love of Mother Nature. Sourcing elements from nature including recycled cotton cord, rattan reed, and locally sourced driftwood from the Sierra Nevada mountains and southern CA coast, she designs decor pieces and accessories that have a natural feel and organic look. I am a (at least) 3rd generation creative. My mom created primitive art pieces and painted barn wood. My father worked with stained glass. My grandmother was a musician, my grandfather an artist. My brother does some pretty epic things with both leather and wood. I guess it's in the blood. I have been creating things all my life but I never really felt like I found myself until the first time I worked with metal. I was home. Hand stamping is a much more durable and permanent method of creation than engraving or printing (sublimating).  The design will not wear off and is deeper than most engraving.  Each letter and design is individually hammered BY HAND. No two pieces will ever be exactly alike. The sustainability of our planet is important to us and we try to help reduce our environmental impact whenever possible.  Our standard interior packaging is completely recyclable, from the paper card to the BOPP sleeve.  We try to recycle packaging when we can for larger orders and use sustainable methods whenever possible. We process all orders using electronic means (tablets) and try to avoid unnecessary paper waste.  We use natural and LED lighting in our studio.   Our precious metals are refined at a location that is environmentally and energy responsible. We recycle all acceptable waste/scrap metal to help reduce our landfill footprint. We source many of our supplies and materials from other small businesses, so purchasing from us helps other small businesses as well.

Our hand-drawn patterns are based on historical references from around the globe (mostly textiles). When I first moved to California I was really struck by the vastness of this American West. That first drive across the country and my earliest explorations of the mountains and deserts were peppered with signs that read: “NO GAS OR SERVICE FOR 100 MILES”. Something about retelling the tale of an empty gas tank with nothing around but empty road, and how you unstuck yourself somehow, will stir up a deep love for the great wide-open west. I find myself making one last stop in the last little town on the edge of the wilderness to pick up a box of matches, a fuel canister, some chapstick, or just an unspoken peace of mind that I know where I’m headed. It’s these places that have inspired the name. A Last Chance to gather the things we rely on, to trust what we’ve got, and to be certain those things will be a part of whatever comes down the road. ABOUT THE OWNER Lindsey Fout is the textile designer behind Last Chance Textiles. Her rural Appalachian upbringing informs the integrity and utilitarian aspects of her work.
