Geraldine "Elena" Herbert was my mother and Ebony's grandmother. My mother, Elena, and I loved to sew. We took an adult sewing class when I was only 6 years old! We made our own suits, coats, and even bathing suits! The creativity did not stop there. I shared my love for everything crafty with my children. The legacy continues with my granddaughter. With my mother's passing in 2015, my daughter, Ebony, and I needed a way to keep her spirit alive. She is the reason behind us creating the business. House of Aama is a fashion brand run by the mother-daughter design duo, Rebecca Henry and Akua Shabaka. House of Aama explores the folkways of the Black experience by designing timeless garments with nostalgic references informed by historical research, archival analysis, and storytelling. We aim to evoke dialogue, social commentary and conversations around heritage, remembrance and to shed light on nuanced histories.

RIMMBA means wild jungle in Indonesian. We are an ethical clothing brand based in Bali, Indonesia. Every garment is a labor of love, handcrafted with care and dyed from plants with intention and connection to tradition and community. We are passionate about preserving Indonesia's cultural heritage and biodiversity. Using traditional techniques, we make our natural dyes from local Indonesian botanicals, such as leaves, berries, seeds, wood and bark. Our mission is the make beautiful garments that evoke powerful lifelong memories and empower people, communities and tradition. The Brand The founder of Après June, Hannah Tapp was inspired by the years she spent living abroad in Italy and Japan. In 2020, she created the brand to bring colorful, yet timeless everyday-wear to California. This is something she noticed other countries do better than we do. Her mission is to create practical pieces to be worn day after day and get better with time. Higher-quality, stronger natural fibers and slower more durable manufacturing practices. As a professional athlete she saw a niche opportunity to offer longer lengths to support those who are 6’0-6’6 and struggle to find adequate lengths. Every summer she returned to California to sell the goods she designed while overseas. Après is the French word for after. Après June is when she could finally be home to sell the pieces she'd created. ​

The name Cotton & Rye Outfitters stems from Cotton being the workhorse fibre of clothing and comfort and Rye, an essential element to a cowboy favorite - Whiskey! The project began in early 2021, when we realized that women had narrow choices when it comes to knitwear: it is either buying cheap, mass-market knitwear that will last no longer than a season, or spending a little more to get the same quality product with a famous brand label attached. As we have had years of experience in knitwear manufacturing, we are tired to see the insane markups for quality products and tons of poorly made knits being thrown away after one season, so we came up with the concept of making the durable knitwear with accessible price. We believe that knitwear is the future of fashion, it has many advantages over woven textiles garments: as it perfectly fits all body shapes; and with advanced techniques as 3D-knitting, the possibility in producing garments with ultimate comfort, freedom of movement, zero friction against skin, is bigger than ever.
