About Fresa Creative

Fresa Creative is a Latina-owned creative brand celebrating culture, color, and design. Our boutique candles tell the story of first-generation Mexican American heritage and culture. I lost my immigrant father to COVID in 2020 - I like to think of my collection and business as the creative outlet I needed to grieve and reconnect to my cultural identity after losing him. Unsurprisingly, as a reflection of my culture, most of my design was inspired by Mexican food, with scents like Horchata, Paleta, and Pepino (all cuke - no melon!) and more cultural touchstones like Malcriada and Baila Esta Cumbia. Our branding is inspired by Mexican snack food packaging - it is important to me that every buyer feels the nostalgic joy for the snacks Latinos grew up with. You might know that "fresa" translates to "strawberry" - but it is also Mexican slang for preppy girls and my childhood nickname because I was particular about everything growing up. I've since toned down the diva energy, but still embrace the nickname, even with its negative connotations in the culture. Growing up Mexican in the U.S. presented a unique balancing act, between cultures, customs, religion, and gender norms. Fresa is a celebration of embracing your cultural identity and empowering women to be unapologetically themselves. Fresa is knowing what you like, who you are, and not compromising your standards. Some would call us bougie, but I’d prefer you call me, Fresa.
