Our Sugar Cookie Journey Sweet Sanctions... What does that mean? We’ve had many options in choosing a name for our company. What we fell in love with about this name however, is that among its many meanings, we felt it best described what was in our hearts. Sometimes words can have contradictory meanings as does life, but to us, the word sanctions stood out as a positive light. It means support and encouragement from community; action and approval; a law. And most importantly to us, a consideration, influence or principle that dictates an ethical choice. Our company is continuously inspired by our customers' generosity and charity, as well as their unique sense of individual style and taste. Our vision is to serve our community by continuing to contribute and participate in charitable functions and set an example of the type of home where we are all neighbors, while providing a cutting edge alternative to traditional dessert opportunities. Since 1977, Willa’s Shortbread has produced the finest Shortbread cookies and Cheese Biscuits using traditional southern recipes and with family guarded attention to detail and quality. From her home in the Highlands of North Carolina, Willa Allen began baking traditional shortbread for special events at the local country club. So well received was her shortbread, she began offering it at local markets eventually having to add a second oven in her kitchen to keep up with demand. When Willa adapted her shortbread recipe to produce cookies, the Classic Shortbread was created and remains an all time favorite to this day with it’s rich, buttery goodness. Willa adapted her mother’s famous cheese straw recipe to create our delicious Cheese Biscuits. Customer’s loved the deep cheddar flavor and spicy bite of these crisp delights and soon, Willa began offering them along with her Classic Shortbread cookies.

Douglas Sweets, a Scottish shortbread company, is based in the green mountains of Vermont. The women-owned business made up of a mother-daughter duo has introduced shortbread with a unique twist of chocolate, spice and exciting flavors. Producing premium quality shortbread since 2012.

In 2015, Savor was founded in a sugar-covered Dallas apartment by Kelli Watts. Born to a French mother, Kelli always had an interest in French things, and that, combined with her love for baking, led her to teach herself how to bake french macarons. After much practice, she developed her own proprietary recipes and opened up her first shop location. Today, Savor is a female owned and managed company with two shops in Dallas-Fort Worth and macarons shipped all over the nation. So how are our macarons different? First, they’re gorgeous. All macarons are cute, but we like to go a step further and hand-decorate each one. Whether in their graphic, black and white gift boxes, or on their own, our macarons are Instagram-ready and make perfect gifts. Second, they actually taste like something. Some macarons have disappearing, subtle flavors that aren’t easily distinguishable. Not ours. Stroopies, Inc. was established in 2008 to provide meaningful employment to resettled refugee women starting their lives over in Lancaster, PA. Stroopwafels are a Dutch cinnamon waffle with a homemade caramel in the center best rewarmed on top of your favorite hot tea or beverage. The Stroopies are made in our family's Sweet Shoppe in Lancaster City and then shipped all over the US. We also love to dip the Stroopies in gourmet chocolate and decorate them with yummy toppings.

After spending over a decade in NYC real estate marketing, Legally Addictive founder Laura Shafferman was suddenly laid off and bound by a non-compete clause that prohibited her from working with other firms. Laura had lost her usual means to earn a living for a full year and was determined to take control over her future. Fatefully, after making a batch of her favorite childhood cookies for a party, a friend suggested she come sell her amazing “cracker cookies” at a holiday market. After selling out in only a few hours, she knew they were a hit and a new business was born! She spent the next year learning the food business at night and during the day, worked as an in-house caterer. Eleven months later, a few stores in New York City agreed to carry Legally Addictive, including the flagship location of Dylan’s Candy Bar. At the time, Laura was making the cookies in the off-hours of a bakery in Brooklyn, often until well past midnight, and then delivering them on the subway and on foot. Fast forward to six years later and Legally Addictive has now built its own production kitchen in Asheville, NC, has a team of 12 and is carried in over 2000 retailers and hotels in North America.
