Thank you for visiting Birch + Being! My name is Paige and I'm the woman behind the biz. For as long as I can remember, I have always found joy in channeling my creative bug. I taught myself macrame in 2019 and quickly fell in love with the craft. in 2020 I realized I was rapidly running out of wall space and that I wanted to share my art with all of you. Growing up in Alaska, I have always felt a close connection with nature and am infinitely inspired by what's just outside my backyard. All the driftwood I use is locally foraged and I draw most of my inspiration from nature and my surroundings.

Hey friend, I’m Lindy! I’m an artist, dreamer, and lover of all things happy. After graduating in the field of textile design, I leaped into the world of corporate design. It didn’t take long to realize that was not the path for me! In 2022, I waved goodbye to the 9-5 to launch my own business and that’s when Lindy Stark Designs as you know it was born. With my passion for art at the center of the design process, I strive to create original pieces that inspire happiness in others. I find a lot of inspiration in my community here in Raleigh, NC. In the nature, people, and music streaming through my earbuds along the way. When I’m not busy in the office, you may find me sipping on an oat milk latte at a local coffee shop or perusing the streets of downtown with my sweet husband (Sam) and top sales-pup (Dunkin- think corgi meets jack russell terrier). Oh, and you can always count on me if you need good food recs, ESPECIALLY all things tacos.

Specializing in meticulously designed motel keychains, bespoke bandanas, silk scarves and homewares, all sporting American traditional tattoo styles, we take pride in offering one-of-a-kind pieces that stand out. Every product is crafted in-house with creativity and dedication.

OllieBug Tot Shop is a Mama owned and operated business. Named after my two boys Oliver (Ollie) & big brother Cameron (Bug). I originally started making paci clips and other things as a hobby while I was pregnant with Ollie to help pass the time as I was unable to work. What started out as a hobby soon turned in to a full business! We have since expanded to offering a variety of products for our customers - including completely custom signs and decor, hand made - in house. Starting this business has been such a blessing for us! I have several autoimmune issues and soon after we found out that I was pregnant with Ollie, I had no choice but to quit my job, and stay at home because I just couldn't physically or mentally handle it at the time. I was working in a field that I loved and had been doing it for quite some time, but adding pregnancy on top of the other issues that I face each and every day - it was not the best choice to continue working traditionally. Running my own business offers my family and I the flexibility that we have always needed. I can stay at home with my children, make it to every school event for my oldest, and -most importantly, for my health- I can work at my own pace & take breaks when needed at any point in time. Having this kind of flexibility is something that I would never be able to get while working a traditional job. I am SO thankful to have the opportunity to be able to now run my own business!

Justine Aragon is a macrame artist located in Pueblo, Colorado. Macrame started as a hobby when she was pregnant during the pandemic as a way to create peace during an uncertain time. It turned into a passion and later decided to turn it into a business in April of 2021. Every item you purchase is made with 100% recycled cotton cord and handmade with care.

I am an Assyrian artist and entrepreneur. I have been passionate about creating art since I was young. I have an abundance of artistic skills and most of them are self taught. I work with resin, wood burning, laser art, drawing and design. I started selling locally in my Northern Illinois hometown and after a lot of hard work, I was able to expand my business immensely. I have shipped to every state in the United States and to over 30 different countries. I am very passionate about creating unique pieces of work that stand out and make people laugh. I am also an educator and author as I also love inspiring other artists and creatives and teaching them how I paved this way for myself. Cat is a stay-at-home mom who picked up macrame as a hobby to help combat postpartum blues & her mental health struggles. She was desperate to find a healthy coping mechanism while balancing the responsibilities of a mom and housewife. Macrame became her greatest escape, her happiness. For the first time, Cat felt so passionate about macrame that she invested in herself and started her own business in October of 2020. Feisty Design Company started out of sadness and trauma. Our main Feisty Babe, Kris Owens was going through a rough journey after sexual assault and turned to her Ipad and created images that healed her soul. Some were sweet and some were feisty but either way they brought her and others joy. After sharing some of these designs with friends and family, they encouraged her to share her feisty heart with the world. After some healing, she decided to give it a shot. Feisty Design Company is for the man or women who love being feisty, who are proudly weird, and strive to live as authentically as possible. Welcome to Stitch & Shutter on Faire ! I'm Megan, founder of S&S. I started creating leather goods in mid 2014. With a fine art background in photography and fabric design, I've always enjoyed dabbling in various media but found "home" while working with leather. I truly love the timelessness and durability of leather. I particularly love things that force me to slow down, things that take a great amount of patience and attention to detail. Leather work offers this in many ways. The cutout collection, the first collection offered by S&S, plays off of my mantra- "a delicate strength." This has been a recurring theme in my creative work and I apply it to the collection by creating abstract, hand cut pieces that combine fine, delicate lines with the strength of leather. Really, every step of the process being made with my hands is a nod to the mantra, it not only presents itself in that specific cutout work but in all areas of my personal and professional life. My goal with the products I offer is to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern yet timeless designs. S&S may be offering leather goods, but these aren't your traditional leather goods. The pieces in the Stitch & Shutter collection are informed by my fine art and fashion background. So if you're like me and your closet is filled with classic, structured clothing, these pieces are meant to become staples that pair perfectly with that clean, minimal sense of style.

Hi! I’m Nicole Schwieger and I’m a hand lettering artist from Iowa who also likes to engrave and cut things with a laser. I live with my husband, two daughters, son. I'm also the face behind Nicole Letters. My love of lettering started clear back in middle school. You could always find me drawing bubble letters during class. Looking back, I realize how much a part of my life lettering has always been! I just never thought it would turn into a career. ​ Fast forward to late 2016—that’s when I began studying and learning lettering and modern calligraphy. Then in the spring of 2017, I found myself with a two-year-old, a five-month-old and a broken wrist (yup…that’s a story for another time) and in major need of a creative outlet. Cue: lettering. ​ My business started to grow and with that growth I wanted to expand my products so I ventured into laser cutting and engraving. I purchased my laser in 2020 and have added numerous wood and acrylic products since then. I love being able to combine my lettering with my laser to create unique one of a kind products designed and manufactured in house.
