About Saltwater Born

Saltwater Born is a family-owned business. Our family has lived in Florida near the water for the last two decades. In 2018, while in college, Jack Kempton decided to start Saltwater Born. The idea behind Saltwater Born was to create cool, active gear that we would wear while fishing, diving, boating, or swimming. We wanted to make high-quality, sun-protected shirts for in-the-water play and also comfortable, casual clothes for off-the-water activities. Our family and friends love the coastal lifestyle and our designs and brand reflects this. Saltwater Born is for everybody. It’s for anyone and everyone who loves being around the water. You don’t have to be a hardcore fisherman or diver to wear our gear. If you love living or playing in the Sun, Sand, and Saltwater, our company is for you. Our goal is to create quality, coastal-inspired, comfortable clothes and accessories. We hope you love them as much as we do!

S.L. Revival Co.

We created this company as a revival to the epic lifestyle of Uncle Bobby... an outdoor lifestyle company inspired by the fantastical life of Bobby Earl. It all started with a hat that looks as if it has weathered on the dashboard of an old farm truck, Bobby Earl's farm truck. The same farm truck Uncle Bobby used to haul surf boards and friends to Atlantic Beach for surf outings. This was back in the late 50s, 60s and 70s when surfing was an alternative culture. Some say Bobby Earl was the first to surf the barrier islands of the southern Outerbanks. Born in the Depression era, Bobby Earl was my great uncle, the youngest brother of my granddaddy Floyd. He was an outdoorsman by choice and necessity. The idea for SLR started with an observation. We needed a vintage style state flag trucker hat just as Uncle Bobby would often wear -- a hat that has been washed by the sun and salt. We have created what we believe are the best vintage state flag trucker hats available. The North Carolina Patch Flag Hat was our very first design back in 2012. Designed by our staff in New Bern, NC, our hats are manufactured using a Salt-Wash™ process to create a weathered, heavily sun bleached vibe. The high thread count embroidered flag patch creates a vintage look. Hats are adjustable with snaps. The mesh is very soft and the bill has a natural bend. This hat is heavily faded making each one uniquely different. We now offer clothing, accessories and many different hat styles.

Periodically Inspired

Periodically Inspired® began during a cold Rhode Island winter in 2010. Fending off cabin fever by staring at the Periodic Table, I started playing around with different combinations of elements and created a few words and funny phrases. I printed these new designs on clothing, cups, coasters and more, and I registered my business name. I opened my Etsy shop and launched a website, grabbed my Periodically Inspired® banner and business cards, and started selling at weekend arts markets in Boston, Providence and NYC. After creating, marketing, and successfully selling my first few designs, the options seemed limitless. So I created more, traveled more, and sold more! As time went on, Periodically Inspired® products were placed on the shelves of the M.I.T. Museum Store, popular retail shops all over New England, seven stores in Seattle, and Uncommon Goods! I have done both retail and wholesale trade shows in Boston, NYC, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Portland and San Jose. Now, with several long-term wholesale relationships, more than 5,000 sales on Etsy and a solid 5-star rating, I’m proud of how this little business has grown. Looking back over the past decade, I feel so grateful for the continued interest and support of my buyers, especially during this global pandemic! Thank you all!
