Little Clay Hen is the home ceramic studio and shared artistic endeavor of Jodi Miller and Niles Mahlman and is based out of Edgewood, New Mexico USA... We specialize in kiln-fired ceramic ornaments, ceramic wall tiles, terracotta sugar savers, and southwestern ceramic jewelry all using a locally sourced clay. About our work: All our products are artisanally crafted by hand, by our family, at our home studio where we design, print, and paint each, we also create the images and molds ourselves. Our ornaments are said to look like iced cookies and this is a "discovery" that customers enjoy making and mentioning; it makes for fun conversation! Although they are of natural clay fired to 1,940°F, we sometimes refer to them as "the cookies" when we are cutting and "baking" (kiln firing) them. Unique with the naturally warm feeling of a local terracotta and glazed brightly; our ceramic tile products are one of a kind and each piece bears its own distinct marks and variations which emphasize the beauty and honesty of our handmade quality; a feature that our customers truly appreciate and value. Using natural clay from the American Southwest and a pinch of the sparkling mineral mica (for subtle beauty and strength), each piece comes strung on a raffia and ready to add to your display.
