In 2015, determined to quit my job, I spent the last $500 I had on 100 custom pins of an all-black owl design. If I could find 100 people to buy them, I could recoup my costs and do two new releases. I used a lot of matches at the time so I stuck the pins in empty matchbooks as packaging — and ended up selling them all. My homie Louis suggested we call the company Strike Gently. Since that first weird owl pin, we’ve released 1000+ pins, patches, stickers and blankets, and built a community of 1m+ followers and 500,000+ customers. We do everything in-house, from design to customer service. Our pins are made with gold, silver or black-plated metals (either iron, nickel or zinc depending on the complexity of the design). Every pin is hand-filled with enamel. It's an intensive production process, and we only release/restock 95 pieces of each design at a time. Our blankets are loom-woven, not printed. They are 100% cotton and made in the USA. They are machine washable and we suggest using a regular wash cycle and a low-heat dryer setting. Read their story
