About Black Dog Press

Black Dog Press is dedicated to promoting correspondence in the most unique and beautiful way. Since 2001 we've be designing and printing letterpress greeting cards and stationery in our studio in Boulder, Colorado. From production to the reveal of each finished card, our stationery business impacts all the senses. In the studio there are the pleasing smells of letterpress ink and paper. A 100-year-old press, powered by a foot treadle, makes rhythmic clanking sounds as it uses 400 lbs. of force to impress the ink into the soft texture of cotton and hand-made paper. Each card is fed by hand onto the press resulting in a clean, crisp image and a visual sense of depth and color - engaging the sense of touch as you run your fingers across the textured impression the type has left behind. Along with our supervisor, the ever-present black lab Lego, we spend our days creating cards that are simple and heartfelt or humorous and irreverent.
