We met when we became neighbors and our 3 kids became instant friends. After just a few months we knew we wanted to go into business together. We discussed so many different ideas and ended up merging them all into one to start Moonlight Makers on February 2nd 2015! We built our website, bought and renovated our short bus and hit our first festival that May. We have spent weekends going to Events and Shows with the bus ever since! Online orders kept us busy shipping during the week, screen printing on our kitchen counters kept us busy at night. We started drawing more and more designs and launched our brand into the wholesale market. During Christmas 2016 we hosted a Seasonal Pop-Up Shop in Downtown Asheville, NC and we loved the feeling of having a store! We hired our first help, took our screen printing setup out of our kitchens, our warehouse out of our basements and fell completely in love with having a location and a growing team. On Halloween 2017 we moved across the street into gorgeous, old photography studio. Our products are now in 2500+ stores across the globe, we have 400+ fun designs, we screen print everything to order by hand and we now have 6 kids between us! Rena started her maker journey selling vintage home goods but knew she belonged in the maker community. Her creativity flourished and the company’s designs quickly expanded. Our business adventure began in 2009 when I surprisingly realized that the super absorbent sponge cloths I used during my years growing up in Sweden were not a common commodity in US homes. After earning my business degree, I along with my husband and other family members, saw the opportunity to penetrate the US market with these unique, high-quality cloths. In just a few short years we have been met with an overwhelming response from retailers, as well as consumers - they all love our product! What makes the Wet-it cloths so impressive is their absorption and bio-degradable qualities. The fabric is a tried and true Swedish invention from the 1940s and is made of a perfect blend of high grade cotton and wood pulp. The idea behind the Wet-it is to eliminate or reduce the amount of paper towel waste. We upgraded the cloths with our in-house designer patterns.
