I've always loved maps, particularly contour maps. Hiking in the White Mountains, I'd pore over the maps tracing trails and ravines across the ridgelines. I've enjoyed becoming more familiar with these maps by making slate coasters engraved with the contour lines and trails of the mountains of New England. I've also recently started exploring the maps available from NOAA to engrave nautical maps from the harbors and oceans surrounding my home on Cape Cod.
