Properly Improper

At Properly Improper, we’ve grown from a passion project into a brand that ships thousands of products across the country and abroad every month. Our mission is to empower individuals to embrace their true selves, unapologetically. Founded by a product designer with a background in major retail, Properly Improper merges two worlds: professional experience and a personal belief that everyone should be free to express themselves however they choose. Growing up with restrictive expectations, we created this brand to celebrate self-expression, humor, and individuality—without limits. Our products are more than just gifts—they’re reminders that you can do what you want, create what you desire, and go wherever your heart takes you. No judgment. No rules.

Kamibashi

Kamibashi owners Kristen and Chris Daniels started Kamibashi (Japanese for "paper bridge") while teaching English to university students in Kyoto, Japan. A few months before moving to their new hometown of Asheville, NC in 2005, they read a story in an English language magazine about string dolls while they were having breakfast at a café in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Curious to see these small string creatures in person, they headed to the night market that evening, and the rest is history! Fifteen years later, Kamibashi is still going strong. What started as a group of 15 string doll characters has grown to over 250, most of which are designed together with the leaders of the two string doll groups we have been working with since the very beginning. Kristen, Chris, and the Kamibashi team never fail to be amazed by the creativity of their string doll artisans and their ability to make pretty much anything and anyone out of string. Kamibashi is a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation and the Museum Store Association.

A Branch & Cord

Hi! I am Vanessa and I am so glad you are here. A Branch & Cord is based out of the Pacific Northwest and we have proudly grown to a team of 5! I began A Branch & Cord in 2020 while pregnant with my 3rd child and I love to hire stay-at-home moms because being one myself, I know how important feeling a part of a team while providing for our families is. B&C began as a one-time project and quickly turned into a thriving business. We love to work with color and texture to create macrame goods, accessories, kits, wall decor, and rainbows. We regularly participate in pop-up markets and instruct DIY Rainbow workshops in our community. We also love to connect with makers and small businesses of all kinds so do feel free to message us and say hello! I love to collaborate with our retailers and support one another whether that's with giveaways, social support, or local in-person events. If you have an idea you'd like to see if we can create, just ask! We are always up for trying something new! Let's get creative to help support one another. I love being a part of the FAIRE community and I am so proud to share that our brand is carried by retailers worldwide! I hope you will consider A Branch & Cord for your shop. A Branch & Cord gives back to a variety of foundations and communities including Apraxia Kids, the Vivian Lee Foundation, the Sam Day Foundation and the LGTBQ+ community.
