About Ancoats Soap Co.

First inspired by the old Sankeys Soap factory which overlooks one of the world's coolest neighbourhoods, Ancoats Soap Co. was born from the idea of bringing soap production back to Ancoats. This idea first came about in 2019 and we spent three years developing the soap until launching at the end of 2022. Our products are designed for modern-day lifestyles and to be as eco-friendly as possible. The soap bars are made using the traditional cold-process method and formulated with nourishing coconut oil, shea butter, olive oil and sustainable palm oil. They are designed to be gentle on the skin while providing a rich and foamy lather. Taking inspiration from the world of perfume, they are lightly scented with thoughtfully considered blends of essential oils comprising top, middle and base notes and without the use of synthetic fragrances. We use natural clays for colouring and to anchor the scent. Once made, it is left to cure for six weeks to remove excess water which means the result is a harder, longer lasting bar. The soap boxes are made of recycled card and printed with eco-friendly toners. The hand wash comes in recyclable glass bottles that are sourced from just outside Manchester and our aim is to provide refillable options in future. We look forward to developing our product range and to our soap being used in homes in Manchester and further afield!
