Archetype Beard Company was born from a silly, tongue-in-cheek design school branding concept peddling "Whiskey and Grooming Products" under the simple label Archetype. A few years later, but before the beard trend took off, Jorge ( a long-time Pogonotrophist) got his first exposure to beard oil via a gift from an old sweetheart. He had never heard of the concept but dug the idea of beard oils for grooming. However, the beard oils on the market were either too expensive or didn't have the scent appeal he was looking for. So Jorge decided to create his own scent profiles. He purchased all the carrier and essential oils and got to work experimenting with different formulas like a mad alchemist. He came up with a few dozen blends and quickly packaged small samples and distributed them to bearded friends and even strangers on the streets with attached contact info to a feedback landing page that he created using his web design background. The feedback poured in and he soon whittled those many dozens of scent profiles down to just four. The name Archetype sprang from his long fascination with the eponymous Jungian concept from his past life as a psychology major. So it was only proper to base these winning scent profile names on an amalgam of characteristics of four "basic" states of man. The Diplomat, The Rebel, The Creative, and The Seeker were born. The beauty lies in the fact that all men oscillate between these states on an almost daily basis.
