Staying required finding work, so I launched with full spirit into the towel and bathrobe industry, working long hours everyday in a warehouse, headphones glued to my ears as I drank in every morsel of knowledge about how to grow a business. My spirit and passion caught on like fire; I was quickly promoted up the ranks as an inventory manager, supply chain manager, and finally e-commerce manager. Still, while the pay was great, that burning drive to deliver superior service and products to customers wouldn’t stay at bay. The problem? The industry is heavily dominated by large, entrenched players with deep pockets. They have zero incentive to deliver a better product. I had one choice. Give up the paycheck, and battle the ‘big guys’; the only move that allowed me to deliver the superior quality bathrobes previously reserved only for frequenters of elite hotels. Leveraging my knowledge of what this industry lacked, I took a deep breath, invested my entire life savings, and poured my soul into creating superior quality bathrobes that spoil even the pickiest of senses; and Lotus Linen was born.

The first Sandmaiden Etsy shop was started way back in 2007 when I was newly married, in the middle of an international move from Vancouver to Seattle, pregnant with my second daughter and had cut 10 inches off my hair. Something was in the stars for me that year and Sandmaiden was a success that allowed me to stay home with my kids, create and sew for the next 6 years. We moved to Bellingham, WA, USA in 2013 and opened up our first bricks and mortar store selling only our handmade sleepwear and lingerie. Our second Etsy shop is still by far our main focus but we can be found in the flesh most business days between 11 and 5 at our production house and *limited* retail store on Bay and Holly st in downtown Bellingham. Sandmaiden Apparel is still 100% made by hand (meaning not on a line) at our workshop in Bellingham WA, USA. Much of the textiles we offer are made in house by our knitting machine in Fine Merino Wool or Silk yarns. We specialize in cut and sew knits designed to be worn mainly at home but branch out here and there in Swimwear, Wool Jackets and general get around town wear. I've been passionate about color and natural fibers since before I could talk for reasons that are an internal reflection of a longing to be in harmony with nature. This isn't to say we don't use modern functional materials, I try to make those decisions from a place of joy and inspiration trusting in my innate sense of beauty as a light towards health and wholeness for all.

Using Austrian Lenzing modal our fabrics are planet friendly and so buttersoft our styles melt and mould to the body, creating such comfort that our customers always come back for more.

PajamaSutra loungewear is made with artisanal block-printed cotton from Jaipur, India. Designed in San Diego, CA by designer Sarena Udani. Our rompers are our standout style with a draped fit, side zip and tassel shoulder ties. Both comfy and chic, our rompers go seamlessly from bed to beach to brunch…and they have pockets! These are also available as a Mommy and Me set. Our robes are known for a fit-and-flare silhouette in a buttery soft cotton fabric, elevating an at-home lounging experience. PajamaSutra robes were chosen as the official dressing robes for the Miss Universe competition 2017-2019. More about PajamaSutra: Sarena founded PajamaSutra in 2008 when I saw that there were many larger brands and retailers sourcing hand-made block-printed fabric from India, but none of those brands were including women of color in their marketing or messaging.
