The name Grumpy Nook is a playful mix of nostalgia and beginnings. “Grumpy” is a nod to the kind of characters Maisah loved growing up with — the ones with a bit of attitude and a lot of heart. And “Nook” comes from the cosy corner of her bedroom where the brand first took shape — surrounded by sketchbooks, art materials, and a growing love for all things paper. Maisah’s passion for stationery was inspired by her father’s love of fountain pens and special family trips to local stationery shops. Pens were the first spark that grew into a deep love for all things paper — the textures, colours, and creative possibilities that keep inspiring her work to this day.
